The movies that catapulted Pitt’s career
Brad Pitt became known to many in 1994 after Legends of the Fall had its premiere at the theaters. And then came Seven in 1995, that many holds as their favorite Brad Pitt movie, in which he starred alongside Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow. He was a detective chasing a serial killer. That was not the end of Brad in 1995. He later wowed his fans with the science fiction movie 12 Monkeys. The movie won him a Golden Globe award for best supporting actor and several nominations; his first Academy Award nomination included. Many people feel that this movie catapulted Brad’s glowing career. In the late 90s he strengthen his position with Fight Club that for many ranks as his best picture.
Other popular movies
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was a sure crowd catcher. He plays the role of a husband and Angelina Jolie plays the wife in a marriage about to fall apart. They are in counseling for this but in reality; the two are very skilled assassins working for rival companies. They fall in love but soon discover that their respective companies have hired them to kill each other. The new love birds cannot betray each other and go against their employer’s wishes and work as a team to save themselves. At the end of the day, this not only saves their lives, but their marriage too.
In later years Brad Pitt has also been seen in some movies that hasn’t created much echo in the film world. However, Moneyball (2011) is a fine picture with Pitt trying the role as a baseball manager.
Fast-forward 2013, the actor/producer thrills the world with an apocalyptic thriller World War Z as the producer and lead actor. It is a show of sheer skill and creativity as the father of six makes his mark in acting. Brad was the hero who travelled the world in the midst of an attack to stop a zombie pandemic. The zombies came from nowhere and attacked people turning them to zombies as well. If the trend continues mankind would be wiped out and the only solution was finding “patient zero”. Brad has to find the origin of this nightmare or his family would be kicked out of the safe place they were in. It would take all the skills of an ex UN employee to solve the problem. He manages to find a way past the zombies in a rare display of talent which saved the world. I would certainly recommend this movie for anyone with a strong stomach because like any movie with zombies, things can get really creepy.
In the same year he goes on to act in 12 Years a Slave (2013) alongside the sensational Lupita Nyong’o and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Twelve Years a Slave is a phenomenal movie about a man kidnapped and sold as a slave. The man, Northup, witnesses the troubles of Patsey (Lupita) and she even begs him to kill her. Brad plays the role of Samuel Bass, a loyal guy who helps Northup deliver a letter to his home which saves him. The movie is lauded by critics and fans alike for telling the tale of black history in precise and moving fashion.
A husband to star actress Angelina Jolie and a father of six, Brad has a lot on his plate but never ceases to entertain those who love him the most. It is surely a thrill to watch the the great son of Oklahoma on screen as he is as captivating as he is creative.
